Grachanitsa Serbian Folk Dance Ensemble
Grachanitsa - Serbian Folk Dance EnsembleIn 2000, a group of folk enthusiasts from the Boston area started exploring the rich heritage of folk dancing and music from different parts of the former Yugoslavia. The ensemble is led by Djordje Koldzic, a former soloist and assistant-choreographer with the National Folk Ballet of Yugoslavia "Branko Krsmanovich". Grachanitsa dancers are folk dance enthusiasts from around the world, hailing members from the Balkan region, the United States, Canada, and all over Europe. Today, Grachanitsa has become known throughout the Northeast for its original choreographies, elaborate costumes, perfected style and attention to detail.
Balkan Express Boston
Balkan Express Boston was originally formed in Nov 2007. The group performed at Balkan Music Night for the first time in March of 2008, presenting sevdah music from Bosnia and Hercegovina under the name “Bascarsija” and 2009 and 2010 under the name BEB (Balkan Express Boston). The most recent Balkan Music Night performance was in March 2017. The group has also performed on many occasions under the name “Svilen Konac” (‘Silken Thread’). Currently, the Band is performing under the name "Balkan E Boston" for the past four years, playing in New England, New York, and New Jersey.
